> Does anyone have passthrough experience with the newer NEC/Renesas USB 3.

Just read some of the russian dvb forums. No doubt there may be an incompatibility issue with Renesas and PROFs 64bit (and/or x86 as well), but if other USB 2.0 devices work fine in the 3.0 controller, would not be so quick to blame Renesas.

So, I reverted back to ESXi 5.0u2, where this should basically work, but not in my case. Upon connecting the camera to the PC (tried both front and rear USB 3.0 ports) it shows up as 'USB Boot' in device manager, however, upon trying to run the callibration I get the following message: Camera is not compatible with USB controller: Renesas USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 0. I know nothing about USB 3.0, but imagine it is backwards compatible with 2.0. I found many posts in this forum about this issue and a post about an answer from a VMware technical support person, that this will not be supported anymore with ESXi 5.1. I also tried to get this running with the (current) ESXi 5.1, but this also failed with another, an essential, problem: the ESXi 5.1 seems to ignore a configured passthrough USB controller - the device will be unlisted after reboot. I found some posts, that the older controller chip, the NEC µPD720200, will work fine with passthrough (as other USB 3.0 controllers also) - but I was unable to find anything about the newer ones, the µPD720201 or µPD720202. The card works fine unter a native Windows 2003 on the same hardware (for testing purposes, I have the old Windows 2003 installation, prior to the ESXi migration, on a small partition).

This is especially likely to happen when using USB 3.0 remote hard drives or flash drives. A fresh installed Windows XP SP3 guest for testing will show the same behavior as the Windows 2003 guest. When using a USB 2.0 2.4GHz wireless peripheral device (such as a mouse, keyboard, or headphones) with a PC that also has a USB 3.0 peripheral device plugged in, you may experience erratic operation caused by interference. The card will be recogniced from Windows 2003 Guest and the driver, version 30230, can be successfully installed, but the device does not work - a yellow exclamation mark with an error similar to "the device could not be started (code 10)" is shown in the device manager. The USB controller card shows as "Unknown USB Device" in the ESXi Passthrough configuration, but it can be selected and activated for passthrough

Update your USB drivers first, THEN if the problem isn't fixed, swap the system board.I'm trying to "passthrough" a USB 3.0 Host Conroller PCIe Card with the NEC/Renesas µPD720201 4-Port Chip to a Windows Server 2003 guest with ESXi 5.0 update 2: It worked great, but more recently Im starting to try to switch entirely over to Manjaro for everything but gaming, and Id like to give those hotpluggable ports to the Manjaro VM instead.

You may want to try updating your Microsoft driver for your AMD USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller to at least this version if you haven't already: A while back I bought a Renesas uPD720201 USB 3.0 PCI card for my Windows 10 VM so I could pass it through for some hotpluggable USB ports. Just be aware that swapping out the system board did not fix my problem that was just like yours. The renesas electronics usb 3.0 driver is a driver for the usb 3 renesas electronics adapter which comes in many common intel motherboards. In this article, since windows 7 compatibility mode. I could not pin down the true fix of my problem-it can only be one of the two following changes:ġ) Microsoft later updated the AMD USB 3.10 eXtensible Host Controller via Windows Update.Ģ) I swapped the WiFi NIC that I was installing in PCI-e slot 4 (and that has a USB-attached Bluetooth card onboard) with the latest and greatest model with the Intel AX200 chipset. where t727t is the name of the file to be downloaded.

HOWEVER, I found out in my own instance that swapping out my own system board did not make the problem go away! Eventually the problem did get fixed, but it was not due to swapping the system board. The most common release is 2.0.32.0, with over 98 of all installations currently using this version.
